American Beauty/ American Psycho is the sixth studio album from American rock band Fall Out Boy released on January 16th 2015. The cover of the album conforms to the the typical conventions of rock album covers as the band is not featured on the cover. This is usually because the band wants the audience to focus on the music and the meanings of the songs rather than the appearance of the band. The imagery on the front cover of the album is a young boy wearing a blue and black vest in front of a house. The dark/ punk face paint on the boys face creates symbolism with his face only being half painted with stars and stripes (similar to that on the American flag) which links to the name of the album 'American Beauty/ American Psycho'. This type of face paint often associated with rock/ punk music.The boys expressionless face and dark clothing also adds to the dark atmosphere of the album as these are often associated with rock music. The text used on the front cover of the album is quite minimalistic as it is small, basic font at the top of the album and doesn't stand out from the rest of the album. The back cover of the album has the band members facing away from the camera with one of the members wearing an American flag looking back at the camera which links to the patriotic theme of the album. The sun gives the image a dusty feel which makes the cover link more into the rock genre.

Save Rock and Roll is the fifth studio album by American rock band Fall Out Boy released on April 12th 2013. The cover of the album conforms to the typical conventions of rock album covers as the band is not featured on the cover showing that they want the audience to care more about their music than their appearance. The imagery on the front cover is two boys who contrast each other. This could be viewed as a metaphor for their music with the boy in traditional monk robes representing their older music and the boy wearing a t-shirt and jeans representing the new style of music. The two boys appear to be holding hands which could be viewed as a metaphor for how this album is a combination of both their traditional sound and a more modern sound. The bands name and the title of the album are in the centre of the cover and contrasts to the colours behind it making it stand out. The back cover is red and black which contrasts each other. The red and black symbolise; danger, violence and blood which are things that people associate with rock music.
